This post is from the news which shocked me, with some embellishments made, here it is!
I would like India to win the World Cup, a Pakistani would love if his nation wins the WC. A generic statement would be everyone is a backer for their own nation. But here is someone who is special, a traitor to his nation, a stone-hearted deeply rooted enemy to the Sri Lanka lions.
‘I don’t want Sri Lanka to become the champions of the World Cup 2011’ said a SL columnist, a sports writer of Island daily, Russell Palipane.
A highly foresighted individual, Russell, who can make sound comments based on his premonition and prescience impulses anticipated that the events would go accordingly- If SL wins the WC the President of the SL Cricket, D S de Silva and his panel would boast that it was solely due to their managerial abilities.
Possessing little political prudence Palipane assumed that the ruling-party would try to strengthen and bolster their party’s position by highlighting this victory over and over. Imbibed in the concept of time travel or the butterfly effect, Russell feels that a ‘small’ WC victory to the Lankans would end in a great dramatic chaos in the SL govt.
As a strong supporter, a chauvinist of the President Rajapakse’s realm, he fears that rather than enjoying the victory it may lead to the exploitation of the cup on the political grounds.
“Kumar dear, please spare the country. Don’t win it for the majority of this country are nothing but a pack of jokers, like the former chairman of selectors (Asantha de Mel), about whom (former skipper) Marvan Atapattu had a few things to say, before he retired,” the paper said.
These are the words from the papers in which Russell goes literally beseeching to the SL Captain Kumar Sangakkara.
Who is going to win?
His belief of relating two highly irrelevant events or the team that has been placed third in the probable list of winning the WC, Is it the fruits of mad-laden Palipane or the sweat-shed practices of the SL team?
