Almost the entire foreign side of the Royal Challengers Bangalore is that of what the Delhi Daredevils team was in the previous seasons.
The Delhi team is now the Bangalore team with Dirk Nannes, Daniel Vettori, TM Dilshan and AB de Villiers. He must have had his eye on them from the previous seasons because this move seems much thought out and analysed. Which is why the new team should be renamed as Bangalore Daredevils?
Vijay Mallaya retained only Virat Kohli which was a sensible move considering how well he has been performing off late and it is fair to assume that had he been in the auction he would have had almost all the franchise’s wanting to buy him.
The Royal Challengers bought sensibly and not rashly like many did (Kolkata Knight Riders) with a mentor like Anil Kumble that was quite expected as he is a good strategist and knows the potential of each and every player.
Their best buys include taking back Zaheer Khan who was in the Bangalore team before but was shifted to Mumbai Indians, he has improved immensely as a player and some of his balls were literally unplayable by many in the recent India-South Africa series. He is a valuable asset to any side and a terrific bowler having taken 61 wickets in T2O’s with 4/19 being his best.
Another fantastic purchase is Saurabh Tiwary who was sensational in the Mumbai Indians in the previous seasons, his style of playing is much like what MS Dhoni’s was when he started playing international cricket, Tiwary’s hard hitting shots as well as his long hairdo are both no longer attributes that Dhoni possesses. Tiwary has a strike rate of 134 and an average of 32 runs in T20’s, how can anyone not want him in their team?
Bangalore lost many semis and finals but this time they will want to enter the pitch with all guns blazing.
