Indian fans received a great blow as the rumors came out that Indian Skipper and India’s most important player of the tournament Bhaichung Bhutia is ruled out of the tournament due to Injury in his calf muscle.
The former Bury FC and one of the most talented and experienced player of the team was struggling with his business right from their training at Portugal and he even missed all the friendlies because of his calf injury.
Then finally AIFF has come out with news that Bhaichung Bhutia is not at all ruled out of the tournament and he is there in the 23 man squad as a player and will be trying his level best to make a comeback and be fit for the matches.
Clearing all doubts in this matter AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das was quoted saying, “He is not yet ruled out of the tournament. There is some time to take a decision. We are looking into the rules if he can be registered as an official.”
The newly appointed secretary further went on to add, “Bhutia is still in the squad as a player.”
The Indian skipper before leaving to Doha said “I am training hard. I want to play in the Asian Cup. My chances are 50-50 as I am feeling very uncomfortable on the pitch.”
Men in Blues manager from Doha also informed us that Bhaichung Bhutia is training regularly with the Indian team. He was also seen training with the rest of the team in Qatar’s Al Wakrah stadium today in the morning. Clearly pointing out that he is still not yet ruled out of the biggest tournament in Asia.
