Cape Town: The story of Proteas former Test bowler Makhaya Ntini is very emotional but at the same time inspiring. Coming into the national side from a very small village in Eastern Cape, has finished his end line as the South Africa’s most disastrous bowler taking 390 Test wickets. His career has been remarkable and quite brilliant. He will play his last game against the Indians in the T-20 match. When he was asked that the ongoing series against India will be his last appearance, so he is emotional? Ntini replied, “Well as of now, the feeling is not emotional but I’m quite sure that it will come, when I will be on the field for very last time. But to be really loyal and honest, that day will be the historic day of my life.
When asked him about that his career has been fabulous, so how he looks back? Ntini responds, “Cricket has been a brilliant and beautiful journey for me. I have cherished every single moment, records that I broke and those which still I hold. Ofcourse, it’s not easy to leave the game but then everyone have to when your time is up. When asked him about his best memorable moments in his career? He says, “As a child when you play cricket and then you grow up playing at domestic levels, you will have only one goal at that time, which is to play for the nation. So when Hansie Cronje handed me the debut Test cap in 1997 at this stadium and it was certainly the unforgettable moment for me.”
On the question of, that he was symbol of rise of black people in South Africa cricket has put any additional pressure on him? He answers, “Nope it didn’t put any pressure on me. The players who come after me will certainly feel that. Players will remind me and my achievements and so they will have to fill in the big shoes. I think that there should be more opportunities given to black players, so that they can understand the game better.”
