Port Elizabeth, Jan 21: It was certainly a dream come true for Davey Jacobs, when he got a call from Mumbai Indians. Davey Jacobs, the captain of Warriors team had already seen himself opening with Sachin, when the IPL started three years back. “I was certainly expecting a call from one of the franchise but coming call from Mumbai Indians was not at all expected,” said Jacobs. Now he is very much curious to play the IPL. “I can’t wait anymore to open with Sachin. Hopefully, we will be successful in giving a very good and healthy start for the team,” he said.
The right handed batsman who impressed everyone by his tremendous strokeplay and aggressive cricket during the Champions League was happy to get an opportunity to play alongside Tendulkar and then getting the IPL contract. “Indeed it will be a great experience for me. I’m looking forward to learn from him about how he prepares himself before the game. I want to go back home as an improved cricketer,” said Jacobs. The South African, who has been giving brilliant performances at the domestic circuit but hasn’t got success in entering into the national side. But a good form in IPL may open the doors for Jacobs and this will be his golden opportunity to prove himself.
Jacobs will be behind the stumps for MI and he has no complaints about playing the double role. “It’s an honour for me that I have been selected the wicket keeper from around the world for just 10 available slots available, he said.
