Yusuf has displayed tremendous character at various times in crunch situations recently. He has played well in circumstances where all the other Indian batsmen fumbled. He has shown the immaculate talent and charisma he possesses. We have only a few prodigies like him in the game. Having a batsman who can turn the game on its head when you require a 130 plus runs and have only two wickets in hand is not a cakewalk. And, the best part is although India lost, Yusuf made his second century outside the subcontinent. I guess doing this in a meager 68 balls against a champion bowling lineup of the Proteas is no fooling around. So, he has well proved that he is here to stay now, guys…
Then, don’t you want to know who his role model is? From who does he draws inspiration? Well when he was asked this question by the Mid-Day in Mumbai, he replied, “The obvious answer to that is Sachin Tendulkar, but the daredevil approach has come from Virender Sehwag.” So, now we all know from where Yusuf draws the motivation for launching the opposition bowlers all over the park.
Pathan looked really confident and composed. He told that he had the self-belief and always kept concentrating on his game irrespective of comments he received. “I was always inspired by the way Viru kept backing his own game despite people talking about the so-called shortcomings in his batting”, he said.
Well, Yusuf we all want to see more of your destructive and powerful strokes in the ICC Cricket World Cup. And, we also hope that the next time India comes in trouble you take India home to victory rather than just virtually reaching the target and missing it. Go Yusuf go…!
