TheSportsMirror.com’s correspondent, Pooja Kamboj caught up with Dr. Ankita Tandon, Indian Women Hockey Team Physiotherapist in an interview and here’s what the Physio had to say:
Pooja: Dr. Ankita, First of all let me congratulate you on being part of Indian Women Hockey Team. How do you feel about that?
Ankita: Thanks a lot. Well being associated with a national team is a matter of pride and I feel myself very lucky to be a part of it.
Pooja: How did you get into Sports Physiotherapy?
Ankita: From the very childhood sports have always been my area of interest, so it was not really difficult to get attached with it and be a part of it.
Pooja: So does Physiotherapy in Hockey differ from other Sports?
Ankita: Well yes definitely it is. Since hockey is a sport which include a lots of strength and endurance. And above all it’s a very injury prone sport. So dealing with it needs all that to be taken care of simultaneously.
Pooja: You’ve been with the Indian Team for 6 months now. So do you think that you’ve got acclimatized with the players?
Ankita: Surely yes, being with them all the time gives me a totally different and amassing feel… they are simply superb and very supportive…
Pooja: What is the procedure for becoming a Physio of an International Hockey Team right from the grass root level?
Ankita: The procedure is that you have to follow some very basic steps like mailing your CV, interview clearance, etc and then off course the thing which counts the most is your hard work, your practical skills and god’s grace.
Pooja: So what can the whole of India expect from Dr. Ankita in the coming years?
Ankita: Well I just hope that I can live up to everybody’s expectations. From my side I will keep giving my 100% of what all I have to the best of my capabilities and rest all is up to god.
