One of the most shocking decisions in English Premier League was justified by decision makers – Indian poultry giants and Blackburn Rovers’ owners Venky’s who bought the Lankashire club for 23 million pounds ($36.50 million) came out with a statement. They claim that sacked manager Sam Allardyce’s vision was dissimilar to theirs and his ideas did not fit in to the new owners’ agenda. The poultry giants want Rovers to be 4th or 5th or better in the league table.
Sam Allardyce said that he was shocked and bitterly disappointed by the owners decision, why shouldn’t he? He has served Blackburn for two seasons in which the team finished 10th and 9th. Before he arrived at Ewood Park the Rovers were on verge of getting eliminated from the Premier League. Alex Ferguson stated, “I have never heard of such a stupid decision all my life, it’s absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know what they are doing up there but dearly me.” Many managers from other clubs and football experts too had negative comments about Allardyce’s sacking.
“We do not mean anything bad for Allardyce but we feel that we need to take the club up in the league and grow,” Venky’s chairperson Anuradha Desai said in the Lankashire Telegraph newspaper. “We want Blackburn Rovers to be fourth or fifth in the league or even better. It is nothing against Sam but we have a different vision looking forward and we want the club to grow. We had been talking to Sam in the past few weeks but he did not fit in with our vision for the club’s future. We want good football, wanted the games to be interesting and of course wanted to win and have good players.” she added.
Desai is looking for a manager for the club now, she said her company will try to find a British coach for the job although they were in no hurry and would take the decision sensibly. “Our thinking is that it should be a British manager, but we are open if there is an outstanding option who is interested in managing the club.”
“The fans and supporters of the Rovers should trust us and have belief in us because whatever decisions we have taken is in the best interest of the Blackburn Rovers Football Club and its fans.”
