Belgrade: According to the tennis player and World No. 3 Novak Djokovic’s father Srdjan Djokovic, there should be changes and reconstruction work in the Serbian Tennis Federation (TSS) and they do not deserve the single credit for the maiden Davis Cup win. “The present leader of TSS, which is headed by Slobodan Zivojinovic, has no hands involved in the Davis Cup victory of Serbia and the credits for this only goes for the players and their families alone,” said Srdjan in a statement released to the Belgrade media. “I really don’t have any plans to take the job from Slobodan, but I think the TSS needs thorough reconstruction in their working body,” added Srdjan.
Davis Cup coach Bogdan Obradovic supported the Srdjan’s statement and said that the TSS leadership did have only very little support to the players, who beat the France team by 3-2, in the finals in Belgrade last weekend. “Djokovic’s family wants some fresh and new faces in the TSS leadership team and this can happen very soon, as both the players and me are opting out for it,” Bogdan told the reporters. “We need a very good infrastructure and facilities and I won’t speculate that, who should replace whom in the TSS leadership team. But I’m quite sure that changes will be made,” said the coach.
The players have a very slim financial support from the TSS and players have won the very major title of Davis Cup in the first final itself, so there should be some increase in finances of the players. I admit that we don’t have resources like major countries USA, but the investments and support should atleast be equally proportional to the results that we achieve,” added coach. Slobodan has already confirmed to the Serbian media that he would run the TSS again, after his four year mandate of TSS President expires this month.
