Dec 13: Indian senior players has shown very much interest in the former Indian captain Dhanraj Pillay, to be the chief national coach of the Indian men’s hockey team, as the experience and his class in the forward, will do immense wonders for the team in the future. Currently, Indian team is without any coach since the Guangzhou Asian Games, where the nation won bronze in that tournament. While the national coach Harendra Singh has withdrawn from being the coach of the national side, after India losing to the Malaysians in the semi finals at Asian Games and chief coach Jose Brasa’s coach tenure has expired and is unlikely to be renewed.
As the position for the coach is being going on, Dhanraj has given his name to be the chief national coach for the team, which was backed by the senior players. “Dhanraj has been the role model for everyone that’s for sure. Everyone has grown up watching him playing. He is having more knowledge than anybody else. Certainly, he would be the only one, who would know the requirements very well needed for the team,” said the Indian mid fielder ace Arjun Halappa. “He is undoubtedly a very good option. He knows this game good enough, as he is still playing this game and so he is enough aware about the modern techniques and strategies,” added Halappa, who is being chosen in the Asian All Stars team.
Giving support to his teammate and India’s drag flicker Dhanajay Mahadik said that, Dhanraj and Singapore based former Indian centre forward Jude Felix are very choices for the vacant post. “It would be great advantage for the team, if the coach is Indian and more importantly the former captain, as they can understand the pressure better. As far Dhanraj is concerned, he is very good with his nature and behaviour and players have a very good understanding with him, besides that Felix is also a better option,” added Dhananjay.
