New Delhi, Dec 03: Gujarat’s player Parthiv Patel was called back in national team, for the remaining two ODIs against New Zealand. Patel will make a comeback in International ODI arena, after almost six and a half years of long period. Patel is not up to think about the past years, which have been spent without national team. Having played only one International game against Sri Lanka in August 2008, the baby look face and Gujarat’s wicket-keeper feels that, the time to him is to move ahead and make very best use of the opportunities coming on his way.
“I have been called back to national side, so I’m really happy and excited. I don’t want to waste my time by thinking that why I didn’t get a chance for so long period. When I was out of my national side, I knew it, that my job is only to score as more runs as possible in domestic cricket and that’s what exactly I have done. I’m really honoured and grateful that I have rewarded a chance for my performance,” Parthiv said over phone from Valsad where Gujarat are playing their fifth round Ranji Trophy encounter against Mumbai. Did he get frustrated and angry at any point of time? “I have never looked up the things in that way. I was always focused positive and I did that consistently.”
Is it pressure on him as he is only chosen for the two ODIs to prove himself? “I don’t think so that I should be very much pressurised as I’m getting only a couple of games in my hand. My only job is to do well in terms of batting as well as wicket-keeping.” India had won the first two ODIs against New Zealand in the ongoing series.
