Patric Evra the United left back prediction before the match that they will come out to be victorious at Old Trafford came out true. The performance of the whole team was matched by his words. The red devils was spot on right from the word go and showed some impressive performance both in attack and defense.
The sides seemed to be evenly balanced with Dimitar Berbatov and Ryan Giggs on bench and the young Anderson along with Par Ji Sung making in the starting lineup for Manchester United. The Arsenal squad was missing Francesc Fabregas in the starting lineup and along with Walcott he was in the bench. The best thing from the Arsenal side was they were without Fabianski and the 20 year old Goal Keeper Szczesny made his debut. The team looked all square on papers but united had an upper hand in terms of experience.
The match started and the first real chance of the match was created by Wayne Rooney who collected a long ball from Vidic and tried to smash it past the keeper but the 20 year old managed to make a save and kept his team safe. The next chance came from Arsenal with Arshavin whipping in a superb cross from the left flan and Chamakh hitting it straight to Van Der Sar; this was the only moment in which Chamakh was involved in an attack.
The latest Arsenal Signing was never involved in an attack and was comfortably overpowered by Ferdinand throughout the match. Then later a cross from fletcher was headed down by Koscielny which went straight to Nani and the half volley by the winger just went a little wide to the post. The pressure was kept on by United and it was finally paid off when a cross from Nani was fantastically chipped by Park Ji Sung using his head. His 6th goal of the campaign was enough to guide his team to a comfortable 1-0 victory. The first half was thus resulted in a well-deserved lead by Manchester United.
The second half kicked off with both the teams trying to attack but not finding a killer pass to break he defense. The first real attempt towards the goal again came by Manchester United thanks to some excellent control and awesome through ball for Anderson inside the box but the shot was well saved by the debutant by charging towards the ball perfectly.
The next attempt came from Arsenal in form of Nasri who ran past Ferdinand and fired a shot from top of the post which was pushed by Van Der Sar on to the path of Chamakh but a well-timed sliding tackle by Vidic protected the lead for United.
Finally Wenger has to make some changes to get back into the game and thus he brought in Fabregas and Van Persie replacing Rosicky and Wilshere respectively. The game was all evenly matched and both teams were trying to score.
The match then gained some momentum when Nani carried the ball from the right flank inside the box and Gael Clichy who went for the tackle slipped and thus ball rolled over his arms inside the box. Referee Howard Webb took advice from his assistant and pointed to the spot.
The star striker Wayne Rooney who holds a good reputation of scoring from the spot lined up to take the spot kick. He made the young goalkeeper to go towards the wrong side but his shot was way over the target and kept on flying over the crossbar.
This gave a ray of hope for the visiting side but strong defensive display by the Red Devils kept the gunners quiet and they never even created any kind of threat to the Goalkeeper and thus match ended in a 1- 0 win by the home side.
This way United maintain there undefeated record this season and the result has brought Manchester United top of the table with a match in hand. Finally the questions were again pointed out on Arsen Wenger and boys who are supposedly failing to handle the pressure of highest level.
