Melbourne, Dec 09: England’s explosive batsman Kevin Pietersen was held up to pay the fine, for driving the Lamborghini sports car faster than the limit speed, along the beautiful way of Great Ocean Road near Melbourne. He was asked to pay a fine of A$239 (about 150 pounds) when he was caught speeding at 121 kilometres (75 miles) per hour in a zone of 100kph (62 mph) zone. The England team however said that, there would be not any disciplinary action taken against Pieterson for rash driving. Pietersen was the hero of the second Ashes test match, where he was named man of the match, as he scored a superb 227 runs which gave England a lead of 1-0 in the series.
“Geelong highway police caught Pietersen by a laser which detected a yellow Lamborghini car travelling north, which is along the Geelong Ring Road, at a very high speed of 121kp/h in a zone of 100kp/h, at about 2:35 p.m. on Thursday,” a police spokesperson said. “It was a male driver in his 30s and was fined A$239 and also with three demerit points. There was not anyone except the driver in the car,” added police. Pietersen even posted the pictures of beautiful local scenery on the micro blogging site Twitter where he has close to 115,000 followers.
“There were stunning and gorgeous beaches in the Great Ocean Road….Had a Brilliant drive!!” he said excitedly. The car that he was driving was given by none other than his friend and former great spinner Shane Warne. England won the second test match at Adelaide very convincingly by an innings and 71 runs. England will play a tour match against Victoria before the third test encounter which will begin from 16th of December.
