Wowa!! The Delhi duo seems to be in astounding touch with the willow. Standing Indian Captain Gautam Gambhir along with the flamboyant Kohli snatched off another victory to seal series win for India. India won the third ODI at Vadodara, Gambhir came in with another century making 126 and became only the eight captain to score centuries in back-to-back ODI’s. Kohli came in with another splendid knock of 63. Now, with ninth loss successively in a row the Kiwi’s seem to make a habit to lose. I wonder are they moving on to break the record for the most number of consecutive losses in a row!!
India won the toss and Gambhir chose to bowl. Zaheer had come back from injury but looked good. And yet again NZ stumbled from the start itself. The openers gifted their wickets. The middle order went into a shell. Franklin and NL McCullum fought at the end but the target was never going to be enough after the initial disaster. Franklin contributed an unbeaten 72 and NL McCullum made 43 runs as they both parted for 94 runs for the eight wicket. It was indeed a great recovery after losing 7 wickets for a meager 106 runs in 29.3 overs. But, then Indian young lads were roaring to fire.
M.Vijay has been in the squad now for quite some time and failed to create an impact. And, he didn’t look comfortable even today. He made a mediocre 30 runs. But, with Gauti slashing cuts and drives the momentum never shifted. Indeed, Gambhir reached his half-century off just 30 balls when Indian scoreboard read 64 for no loss! He was the prime run-getter in the opening stand yet again. But, unfortunately Vijay was run out by Vettori when India had 115 runs on the board.
The energetic and in tremendous form Kohli came in to the crease. Gambhir seems to enjoy the company of this fellow Delhi teammate. And, yet again the Kiwi’s failed to trouble both the exuberant players. And, there was no need of any other Indian middle order batsman. These two ‘Delhi studs’ wrapped up the match and the series with more than 10 overs to spare!! Another jubilant victory for India….Now, India must surely be looking to whitewash the series after these three huge wins. Keep Going India. Good Luck!
