Dec 08: M.S. Dhoni with his gaining popularity as a skipper and batsman is just unstoppable. Today, this popularity has earned him Rs 29 crore endorsement deals with Maxx mobile for a period of seven years. “Maxx mobile brand blindly believes in Dhoni’s potential and performance, which he consistently provided the nation and is a huge truth about his talent and no one doubts about that. The seven year deal with Dhoni surely confirms our trust and belief on him and is undoubtedly is a big reinforcement for the Maxx brand,” said Ajjay Agarwal who is CMD of Maxx Group. This deal happened just after few days of the high deal by Dhoni of Rs 26 crore with the world’s second largest spirits firm UB group.
Maxx Mobile, which has entered the Indian mobile market, has gained a lot of popularity and sold millions of handsets within two years itself. It has already achieved the goal of 4 percent share of market and now it wants to earn 10 percent market share by March 2012. When asked the question about a period of long seven years, Agarwal responded “This has been done keeping in mind, the fact about the Dhoni’s age and his capabilities of performance towards Indian cricket. He is still just 29 years old and quite young enough and the deal reflects the abilities of his, towards the Indian cricket.”
Dhoni will be accompanied by multiple marketing initiatives, which are planned by Maxx Mobile to promote the brand in the country and which is a part of the deal. The promotion of the brand is a fully fledged one, as it will done through print and television advertising, outdoor campaigns, promotional events and mass engagement programmes across the country. Today, Dhoni has 26 brands in his hand and charges Rs 6 crore for each endorsement.
