Its happening, Australia is at the brink of victory over England in the 3rd test of the Ashes.
With the first day going the way it went, in complete favour of the Brits, it was as if Australia had some wake up call and have dominated the game entirely from day 2 onwards.
England managed to get Australia all out for 309 in the 2nd innings, but couldn’t stop Michael Hussey in time. He made 116 runs of 172 balls, Tremlett managed to get him but it was a little too late since the damage had already been done. Tremlett took 5 wickets, he bowled his heart out, but the England batsman may lead to their probable defeat.
Mitchell Johnson seems to have found a new love for cricket because he seems to be on fire. He got Captain Andrew Strauss at 15 and Jonathan Trott at 31.Rickey Ponting took the catch of Strauss, probably trying to show his team that he’s not entirely useless, yet. Ryan Harris also took two wickets that of, Alastair Cook and the all important Paul Collingwood. Ben Hilfenhaus also came to spill some Fosters on the Brits by getting the wicket of Kevin Pietersen who just managed to make 3.
England managed to make only 81 runs losing 5 wickets already, with a target of 391 it seems inevitable that they will lose unless somebody performs a miracle.
England has to take control; even if they end up losing badly to the Aussies in the 3rd test they must not let that affect them in any way,
They have to come back with double the confidence and double the brilliance. If England doesn’t bring their A-game in the next few days it will set the tone for the next match as well since they would have given the Australians the sweet taste of victory which they can already smell at this stage.
England whether they win or lose this match must perform to the best of their abilities and must at least attempt to fight for the game, there’s nothing worse than seeing a series of this caliber without miracles and drama.
The worst thing to happen at this stage of the Ashes series would be an Aussie victory because when high on confidence they are very difficult to defeat and will probably end up crocodile Dundee-ing their way to victory in the next matches as well.
