Dec 14: On the upcoming January, the city will have many reasons to enjoy and make celebrations. At that time the Gujarat government will be busy holding the 5th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, while the people of their would be busy in kite flying, as Makasankrat would be there and in between all these, Ahmedabad will host the International golf tournament. Kensville Golf and Country Club (KGCC) will host the first ever European Challenge, second tier men’s professional tour in India, during the period between Jan 13 to 17. The golf’s supporters and fans who heard about home players Jeev Milkha Singh, SSP Chourasia and Jyoti Randhawa playing exceptionally well on the green field, would be a great opportunity for them to watch the Indian players live in action over here.

This will make the KGCC to be the youngest course to host any major tournament in the country, where there will be around 2, 00,000 fans giving support to the players. Besides that, Ahmedabad would be the only third fortunate city to host the International Men’s Golf tournament after New Delhi and Kolkata. “We were always on the verge of having a Championship golf course in the state and now to host a European Challenge tour is a very big honour for us. It will also give a very great chance for the local fans, to have a glimpse of their favourite International golf stars and will also put us on the world golf mapping, as the course is very young of three years old,” said Sameer Sinha who is the MD of Kensville Golf and Country Club.

According to Sameer, Europe’s top five players Alvaro Velasco, Matt Haines, Floris de Vries, Thorbjom Olesen and Bernd Wiesberger are expected to play. Very interestingly, the state government has opted to take up the mantle for the title sponsors, which were unexpected. The tournament will have 114 golfers from around the planet, including the professional Indian players in action.

Author:

Hello everyone this is Ronak Parekh and I’m currently student of S.Y.B.M.M. I’m 20 years old from Mumbai. I choose my career in B.M.M because I always wanted to do something which is of my interest. And my passion has always been sports especially cricket and F1. I really want to be linked with sports in my future. B.M.M course gives the opportunity in journalism from where I can move to sports category. When I was child I always used to play and watch cricket a lot which usually most of the people does. I gained my interest in F1 due to only one man and that was none other than seven time world champion Michael Schumacher. Actually I’m also very passionate about cars so it is really fun when I see this sport. Today I’m really excited about getting an opportunity to do internship for three months with the sports mirror, where I will have full freedom to express my views and opinions regarding every sport. I definitely will try my best to write the articles as good as possible which would be worth interesting for readers. I really whole heartedly thanking the sports mirror again for giving me this vital opportunity and I promise I will make the most of it.
