It was all good for the newly Qualified English side in the Champions league clash against Inter Milan. The Harry Rednknaap boys secured a comfortable win against the Current champions and made a mark to all the other teams that they are one of the best in Europe and it will not be easy stopping them. The Spurs shook of the visitors Inter Milan in London by defeating them with a score line 3-1.
It was a highly anticipated battle as the first leg in San Siro ended up into a close finish with some fantastic last minute fight back by the Tottenham in form of Gareth Bale who completed his hat trick with 3 identical goals.
The time when Spurs qualified for Champions League I personally was of the opinion that it would have been better if Manchester City would have qualified as they had done some better signings; some renowned players from Europe made their way to the east lands. I was very much confident that they couldn’t handle the pressure of European clubs and would ultimately go back home in the group stages itself. The recent performance by them in the Champions League has really made me feel guilty about my interpretation about them.
The Inter Milan manager Rafa Benitez first time return to England after being sacked from Liverpool turned out to be a night mare. The main architect behind the success of Totenham was again the young charismatic left winger Gareth Bale. He assisted for 2 goals and continuously ran rings round the Brazilian right back Maicon and outsmarted in every possible occasion.
The main success behind the spurs success is there in form midfielders. If you see any of the names they are exceptionally talented. What more does a manger wants when he have a combination of Bale and Lennon in both the flanks and Modric and Van der Vaart in center of the midfield. If all this players are in form then they are surely a head ache for the opposition defense.
There Premier League defeat against Manchester United last Saturday never seemed to affect their performance. In fact they showcased a better performance and sealed a comfortable victory against the current champions. It was surely going to be a tough battle as there was some twitter battle between two Dutch midfielders Sneijder and Van Der Vaart. The only person who converted his thoughts into action was Van Der Vatt and Sneijder failed to display the magic which he is famous for.
This was one of the most famous victories for Tottenham in recent times. It is very important that they continue their top form in later stages of the tournament and get back the past glory.
It is too early to predict something but the English side till now maintained the past standards and has turned out to be much higher than the expectations. The team who started the tournament as one of the underdog side has now surely turned out to be a title challenger.
