Sports – Dreams take you High!

Think Big Dream Big

Think Big Dream Big

The world has always seen people achieving tremendous success although the stakes and odds were enormously against them. In numerous times the world has witnessed athletes performing beyond their speculated abilities.  Sporting greats say that there is some kind of craziness and strong inspiration behind these people, a desire to make it there, make it big, and achieve the impossible. We call these athletes ‘miracle men ’ today, but what’s the driving force behind their craziness?

It’s the will to step out of boundaries, horizons, limitations, it’s the promise that one makes to himself- not to stop till they make it to the top, it’s the adrenaline rush that hits the mind to fulfill hearty desires…. In simpler words, it’s called dreaming. Nobody has ever stepped forward unless they have looked forward. Dreams can create a ‘Jesse Owens’ who broke world records amidst the racist exploits in Germany. A dream can motivate a ‘Jhonty Rhodes’ to be the best fielder in the world….once suffering from fits in teen-age.

Who could have predicted ‘Michael Chang’ to win the ‘Wimbledon’? He could make it big because he dreamt big. For an athlete dreams aren’t movies one watches while asleep, a dream is the endless energy and the ultimate desire- stronger the need, more the flow of energy. Dreams give birth to a spirit in every athlete no matter which sport it is. If sport is a competition, a mountain to climb then a dream is like a rope which can guide one to the ‘Alta’.

Some dreams provide athletes the unthinkable energy to go to a level which is nothing short of impossible. There can be no better example than ‘Ashish Kumar’, the gymnast from India who recently won bronze medals in international competitions. His first in the ‘CWG’ was excellent and his recent performance in the Asian Games won India its first ever medal in gymnastics. The 19 year old dreams ton be a gold medalist in the Olympics, he didn’t achieve that but in course he has achieved something that no one in India would have ever thought of. Dreams works…don’t they?

People say dreaming big can lead to great debacles and short term goals work effectively. Everybody have dreams but dreams are not for everyone. Dreams only come true for people who have the desire to fulfill them. It’s the reason why we find only a few of such ‘Miracle men’.

Akshay Kulkarni

Author:

My name is Akshay Kulkarni, 19 years old studying in M.V.L.U college. Life interests me a lot, the way it works and proves how it is bigger than anything else in the world. As a BMM student I should be observing, analyzing and interpreting what’s going around, but, I am more interested in asking why and how things are happening. I try my best to keep my personal opinions, moods and feelings away from my way of thinking as influence of these things can deviate me away from knowing the truth behind things.I have a very unique way of looking at things; I think it’s my strength and my identity. I always try to express my ideas in any form possible i.e on paper, verbally, in sounds and movies. I believe in my ideas and I am always in quest for people who are interested in understanding them rather than opposing them.
