For the second week in a row less known Welsh winger Gareth Barry proved to be instrumental in making an impact on the European champions ‘Inter Milan’. The Welshman score a brilliant hat-trick in the previous fixture against Inter where Tottenham lost 4-3, but, this time the Spurs got the better of the champions and won 3-1. Bale didn’t score at home but was the most entertaining & effective player on the field. It was his unbeatable form that leads to Inter’s shock defeat.
Bale played so well that even former Inter players didn’t hesitate to appreciate his game. “HE’s just amazing, amazing. He killed us twice.” said former Inter Milan player and current club ambassador Luis Figo. Bale’s team-mates had even better words for him. “Everyone is scared of Gareth. Maicon is the best right back in the world but Gareth killed him”, said Rafael Van Der Vaart. Peter Crouch, one of the goal-scorers said, “He was ridiculous tonight. It’s a dream for a striker to play with him because you know that 9 times of 10 he will beat his man and deliver the ball”.
Many people appreciated Bale but he was very delighted to listen to his club manager Harry Redknapp who said, “The boy has got everything. It’s not just his pace; he can run all day, he’s got the ability to cross, his left foot is great on the run, he can shoot, dribble and head the ball”.
Van Der Vaart opened the scoring for Tottenham in the 18th minute when Luka Modric released him to score after evading a challenge by Lucio. Spur’s extended their lead in the 61st minute when Bale got the better of Maicon and delivered a perfect low cross for Peter Crouch who capitalized very well to score. Wesley Sneijder tried very hard to breach Tottenham’s defence and succeeded in the 80th minute when his pass found Samuel Eto’o who found the back of the net.
Most of the teams would have played possessive football avoiding the opponent team to get the ball and do anything with it but Bale went crazy on the left flank and improvised a lung-bursting run dismantling Inter’s defence and crossed the ball perfectly in Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko’s feet who tapped the ball in and ensured the London clubs first impact victory in Europe. Although Inter were aware of the threat Gareth Bale was capable of, they could do nothing about him. He was unchallenged & unanswered. Gareth Bale is surely one of the biggest revelations of European football & undoubtedly on road of becoming a star in the future.
