Pakistan Cricket Team And Controversies – Just Unstoppable

Pakistan Cricket Team

Sometimes I just feel that if Pakistan team is having good relationship with someone, then certainly it would be with controversies. Yes, this team has never been able to maintain discipline in their cricket life. It has always produced great players in them but never had a great team and the team spirit. The first ever controversy of Pakistan was in 1992 when they toured England and won the series by 2-1. However, the series was controversial as Pakistani team was accused of ball tempering. Even after that incidence, Pakistan just moved ahead as nothing happened. The major controversy was in 2006, when again they were touring England and this time again they were accused of ball tempering, which resulted in the team forfeiting the match as they were not agreed to this.

But however Inzamam, the skipper at that point of time and team were cleared of any wrong doing and Darrell Hair the main umpire who accused them was banned, when Pakistan were not found guilty. In 2007, there was very weird incidence took place when Shoaib Akhtar hit Mohammad Asif with bat. Shoaib hit Asif on his thighs after they had a heat exchange during the training session in South Africa, following which the Pakistan cricket board called Akhtar back seeing as disciplinary measure. In 2006 Asif and Akhtar were again in the picture for the wrong reasons, when they were sent back home from the ICC champions trophy tournament in India, after both testing positive for the banned substance nandrolone.

The most shocking incidence was in 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup when Pakistan was knocked out in first round itself. And later the same night their coach Bob Woolmer was found dead in his hotel room. This made Pakistan team in shadows of involving in this matter. But in 2010 recently, Pakistan team was accused of match fixing scandal when they toured England and this was given by British tabloid newspaper ‘News of the world’, involving seven of the Pakistani test players. There has been many times cold war in team members itself such as between Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan. Shoiab Akhtar had never been able to respect any Pakistani captain, Shahid Afridi few times being very indiscipline on the field with many senior players of his team.

Today, Pakistan has even lost reputation to hold any match in their home due to security concerns. This was happened because gunmen attacked a bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team, when they were on its way to play match in Lahore. Really it’s very difficult situation for the Pakistan team to earn back the respect and reputation that they had once. It’s important that Pakistan, if can’t do much then at least try and proud their own nation fans when they are already facing the terror problems. Also it’s very essential that every nation backs Pakistan and help them in whichever way they need so. I hope Pakistan will play with full sportsmanship spirit in future.

Hello everyone this is Ronak Parekh and I’m currently student of S.Y.B.M.M. I’m 20 years old from Mumbai. I choose my career in B.M.M because I always wanted to do something which is of my interest. And my passion has always been sports especially cricket and F1. I really want to be linked with sports in my future. B.M.M course gives the opportunity in journalism from where I can move to sports category. When I was child I always used to play and watch cricket a lot which usually most of the people does. I gained my interest in F1 due to only one man and that was none other than seven time world champion Michael Schumacher. Actually I’m also very passionate about cars so it is really fun when I see this sport. Today I’m really excited about getting an opportunity to do internship for three months with the sports mirror, where I will have full freedom to express my views and opinions regarding every sport. I definitely will try my best to write the articles as good as possible which would be worth interesting for readers. I really whole heartedly thanking the sports mirror again for giving me this vital opportunity and I promise I will make the most of it.
