First off all I am really sorry to be a bit late for writing the review of the wonderful game held this week in champions league.
It was clearly a one sided battle with the last years Champions League winners facing the newly entered Champions League side Totenham. The match held in the home ground of San Siro witnessed a good crowd and considered it to be the toughest match in the Group A.
The match began with some good passing and dominance by the champions itself. Their dominance in the opening minutes gave them a lead of 1-0 in form a Javier Zanetti just after 2 minutes from the kick off.
Then later it become all devastating for Totenham when they lost their goal keeper Heurelho Gomes who rushed out to stop Jonathan Biabiany bearing down on goal, and not only conceded a penalty but also got a red card for that tackle. Samuel Eto’o easily converted it to the goal with the substitute goalkeeper Cudicini unable to stop him. This way they went 2-0 ahead in the 11th minute. It was all nightmare game for Totenham as there was no stopping them with two minutes later a neat one two between Eto’o and Stankovic was converted into a goal from the edge of the box by the experienced holding Midfielder. Stankovic goal was completed after a 34 pass move which involved almost every Inter player.
Just after conceding the third goal it was surprisingly Totenham who came near for scoring but the excellent cross from Lennon was headed wide by the tall English striker Crouch. Then later Inter Milan tried to keep the momentum up passing the ball for almost 15 minutes with a sign of confidence that match has already been wrapped up. The missed chance by Totenham proved to be fataql when Samuel Eto’o again scored by wonderful poke over the goalkeeper taking the score to 4-0 just 10 mins before the half time. It was a clear end to the hopes of Totenham to defeat the current champions or even put up a fight with just 10 man and 4 goals behind in the half time.
But what happened next was something unusual which clearly gave justice to the statement that no decision is final until the last minute. The second half was kicked off With just minutes after the second half kickoff Gareth Bale picked up a ball in the midfield and charged towards the goal from the left flank beating two defenders and converted the strike to the far post into a goal providing no chances to the stationary Julio Cesar taking the score to 4-1 in the 51st minute.
After home side conceding a goal again the dominance of the home side continued to haunt the spurs. They came near to scoring couple of times and finally decided to slow down in the final moments of the match but one man had some other intentions and never decided to give up, well that’s Gareth Bale the prolific left footer was all charged up with his first goal. With the start of Stoppage time it was an action replay of the first goal and again the left foot strike from the Welshman provided no chance for the Inter Milan Keeper Julio Cesar.
It was then a minute later when Aaron Lennon collected the ball from the Right Flank and running towards the goal and taking all defenders behind him and then provided a lay off to the Welshman and it was not a tough job for him to convert it into a goal.
The goal in the Dying moments helped the Welshman to complete his wonderful hat trick and taught a lesson to both Spurs and Inter Milan. The lesson for Inter Milan was to give the best till the last whistle and for spurs it was to give their best right from the beginning.
The match ended in a defeat for the English side but would have provided a huge morale boost for Totenham in the coming matches.
