In today’s events in the Commonwealth Games there are three stars that would be under the scanner and there would be a great sense of anticipation build around their performance. First in the list is Vijender Singh, the boxer, who has made boxing glamorous sports in the country. He is probably the first boxer who is doing modeling, walking the ramps, mixing with the film world and also let his gloves do the talking. There is a general sense of understanding that for Vijender Singh the event would be a cake walk.
The second player who is going to have a crack at the medals is Saina Nehwal. She, after having made the statement that the preparations for CWG are not up to the mark and now playing it has to prove through her performance that the sense of aura that has been built around her indeed is for real and she is the world class player. His coach Pullela Gopichand has said that Saina would indeed win the gold medal in badminton. Saina has already breezed into the finals with a thumping victory over her opponents and is also guiding her team with her performance to win more medals for the country.
But all the eyes would be riveted on Tintu Luka, the prodigy of P T Usha, who, Usha claims, has the potential to win Olympics gold medal. Usha has been training her hard for more than two years, and CWG is the first platform where Tintu is going to make an international debut. It is the platform that would test whether the amount of labour and money that Usha has spent in her is really worth it? P T Usha is trying to live her dream through Tintu of being a medal winner at the Olympics, a dream that she could not realize owing to delay of a fraction of seconds. She has put in considerable level of technical inputs into Tintu to facilitate her to emerge as a winner.
Among all the three Tintu would also be under focus as she could emerge as a success story, of a perseverance of a coach to realize the objective that she could not fulfill herself but is trying to do with her protégée. If Tintu succeeds more people would take up to athletics and one does not know the elusive corporate sponsorship that Usha has been looking for, for Tintu could just materialize.
