The awards organized by the Madrid based Sports daily ‘Marca’ all went to the Spanish giants Barcelona. The awards namely Trofeo Pichichi, Trofeo Zarra, Trofeo Zamora all came to Catalonian’s. All the awards stand this way:
Trofeo Pichichi: The award for the tops scorer in Primera Division went for the world’s best player Lionel Messi for his 34 goals last season.
Trofeo Zara: The award for the top Spanish goal scorer wen to the latest Barcelona signing David Villa for scoring 21 goals for Valencia.
Trofeo Zamora: The award for conceding least number of goals in Spanish Primera went to the goal keeper Victor Valdes for conceding just 24 goals in 38 league matches.
Premi De Stefano: The award for the best La Liga player again went to Lionel Messi for second consecutive year.
The dominance of Barcelona on the pith was exactly the same of the pitch in collection of awards. It is rightly said that football is not a one man game well then this incident which gives justice to the statement. The award for the best player, the top scorer and the award for conceding the least number of goals/ the best goal keeper all went to the Catalonian stars. Well this exactly determines the class of the team. The team seems to be much stronger with the coming of one of the best Spanish striker David Villa to the squad.
The little master Lionel Messi in Barcelona’s official website revealed his favorite goal among all, he said “It’s hard to choose from the 34 [goals], but I guess the second one against Zaragoza was the best.” Barcelona had a poor start to the season when compared to their potential as well as their rivals Real Madrid. He again stated that scoring 34 goals again this season will be a difficult task but the humble little player said he would love to see himself or any of his other team mates receiving this award.
Despite of a poor start the newly signed striker from Valencia (David Villa) is very much confident that he will be working hard to win all the trophies this season and above all he said it can be anyone from the team who gets this kind of recognition because according to him teams overall performance is more important.
The team who are supposed to be much stronger from the last season are very much confident about their performance and don’t hold any second thoughts on it. It will be very interesting to see how the players develop themselves to face the stiff competition in La Liga by Mouriniho’s Real Madrid and upcoming teams like Atletico Madrid and Valencia.
