Spain indeed has emerged as the new world sports giant, in the same manner as the Spanish language has. As a matter of Spanish is the language that is the preferred language being picked up all over the world by the migrants who wish to migrate to different parts of Europe. Apart from football, that has mesmerized whole world, other Spaniards who are ruling the roost in the international arena include Ralf Nadal, number one tennis player of the world, and Pau Gasol, who is one of the best basketball players in the world, presently playing for Lakers. So the most popular sports in world, Football, Tennis and Basketball all are dominated by the Spaniards at the present, and the Spaniards are too much modest not to blow the bugle on this count.
Spain could triumph in the World Cup Football, as it had style in abundance that could prevail over thuggishness of the opponents, most prominent among them, Holland, who played one of the roughest football matches in the finals of the World Cup in the recent manner. Spain as a nation is a fun frolicking country and the same was exhibited in their football campaign for the World Cup as well. Spain played for entertainment and indeed it was this quotient that emerged as a catalyst for them.
Ralf Nadal is preparing for one more go at the US Open tennis tournament that is going to start within a fortnight and after winning the Wimbledon tournament is indeed in the most enviable position to emerge winner. His bitter opponent Roger Federer has dropped to abysmal low ranking in his tennis career, and the manner in which Nadal is playing manifest from the ground shots that he played during the Wimbledon match indeed are indication that it would really be tough for anybody to defeat Nadal, but himself.
But how many of us have heard of Pau Gosal, who is one of the best players that basketball has produced in the recent memory? He is a polyglot and a medical student to boot, so he approaches his game of tennis with a clinical precision. The Lakers strategy revolves around Gosal and if he clicks Lakers zoom to victory. With a height of 7 ft, he is one of the few players who have emerged from the Spanish armada to write their success story in USA. The icing on the cake would be when some woman player also emerges to make her mark from Spain, may be, it just is a matter of time before it happens.
