Strengths:
As always Bangalore has an incredibly strong batting lineup in the form Quinton De Kock, Brendon McCullum, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers. How is that for a top 4?
Apart from top batters, likes of Colin De Grandhomme, Chris Woakes, and Washington Sundar add immense value in batting as well bowling of the side.
Their spin department looks really good with Yuzvendra Chahal, who has mastered the art of bowling at their home ground Chinnaswamy. Murugan Ashwin, Pawan Negi and Young Washington Sundar who has impressed one & all in his very first IPL.
Weaknesses:
RCB’s fast-bowling looks like a weak link for them, maybe like every time it has been in all the IPL. Likes of Umesh Yadav, Chris Woakes, Tim Southee have economy rates on the higher side and might face the heat of opponents batsmen on the smaller grounds.
Opportunities:
The revamped Chinnaswamy stadium didn’t come good for them in last season and they would hope to get their home dominance back. Their powerful batting line-up can destroy any bowling attack on their day. If two of their top 5 batters click together, It will be really hard for the opponents to stop the RCB. They would like to seize this opportunity and would hope to get their hands on the trophy this season.
Threats:
The side will struggle to decide their 4 foreign players for the matches initially as they will need to field best possible XI. If they wish to field more number of overseas bowlers to strengthen that department, they will have to compromise with their batting unit.
The team more or less revolves around their skipper Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Their over-dependence on the two will put extra pressure on the duo which might bite back their side.
