To be clear, when I say my first golf tournament, I mean my first major golf tournament. My first tournament with the best corporate golfers from the senior leadership team of more than 200 companies across 12 countries as participants.
I’ve been invited as part of blogging and social media team to cover the Golden Eagles Golf Tournament 2016 by Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited at Hyderabad Golf Club in Hyderabad. It is located in a historic setting in and around Golconda fort.

An 18 hole, 6057 yard, Par 71, well maintained golf course, with water bodies and fast greens along with excellent training facilities such as a Golf Academy, Driving Range, and a modern club house with F & B, pro-shop and club fitting facilities.
The first two legs of the tournament were held at Bangalore and Pune respectively.
The Hyderabad event was divided into three parts – morning session, afternoon session and the gala dinner with prize distribution ceremony at Taj Krishna.
After I reached there early morning at 6am, I had a lavish breakfast and then proceeded towards the Hole 9.
It was incredible to see the best corporate golfers/players and bollywood celebrities including R. Madhavan and Rakul Preet Singh literally 5 feet in front of me doing what they do best. It was also fascinating to see the way a course is set-up for a tournament. The KPCL cafeteria, scoreboards around the course, and great hospitality.
I also had the privilege of interacting with R. Madhavan and Rakul Preet Singh and they shared their experiences of playing golf.
R. Madhavan – famous Indian celebrity known for his acting, writing, as a host and also as a movie maker.
The golf fest housed other professional golfers like Ankita Tiwana, Meher Atwal and Siddharth Semwal besides other golfers from various parts of the country.
I also interacted with the brand ambassador of Krishnapatnam Port, Sharmilla Nicollet in the rain-marred second session. She is a 12-time winner on the Women’s Professional Golf Tour of India and one of the top golfers from India. All the golfers at the Krishnapatnam Port Golden Eagles Golf Championship had the rare opportunity to interact with her and witness her formidable golfing talent. Due to an injury, she was not able to play in this leg of the tournament though.

The day ended with fashion show, grand prize distribution ceremony and gala dinner, with Mr. C Sasidhar, R. Madhavan and Mr. K. T. Rama Rao – Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Industries, Mining, Information Technology & NRI Affairs, Government of Telangana, India giving away the prizes.

The Golden Eagles Golf Tournament 2016 by Krishnapatnam Port Company Limited is a great event and does a lot for the local community.
