Team India will have no respite in the upcoming year 2016. After a hectic bilateral series against South Africa a few days back, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the full schedule and fixtures of India’s tour of Australia marking the busy schedule for cricket players at the very start of the New Year followed with the Asia Cup 2016 and the gala ICC World Twenty20 to begin in the first week of March next year.
The upcoming series against Australia will be definitely a tough one for the Indian team. They will not only have to fight it out against the Aussie pacers but will also have to acclimatise with the weather conditions so as to have no problem tackling the fiery spells of Aussie speedster. The sources added that India will play 5 One Day International (ODI) and 3 T20 International matches against Australia.
Indian cricketers are expected to fly to Australia in the first week of January. Once again, the baton of India’s captaincy will be in the hands of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and it is expected that he will leave no stone unturned to make sure that India win the series and get the momentum. And the team will have to retain the same until the ICC T20 World Cup Final.
The final announcement of India’s squad for the upcoming limited over series against Australia will be announced at a BCCI meeting soon. It is expected that Yuvraj Singh’s sublime form with the bat at the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy may bring him back to the national side. But it is still too early to speculate anything about it. The all-rounder has scored 78 Not Out, 36, 36, 93 in the last four matches that he played.
In hindsight, any cricket enthusiast does feel the need to include the cricketer back in the squad. Though India have won the Test series against South Africa convincingly, but it must not be forgotten that they lost both the ODI and T20 series against them. Yuvraj singh may don the role of both explosive batsman down the order and also a useful slow-left-arm orthodox bowler if needed.
